Caring for mother is a modern contemporary painting that reflects on one of the most intimate and enduring relationships in human life: the bond between a mother and her child.

The work was born from a reflection on the unconditional nature of maternal love. A mother welcomes her child into the world without requiring perfection. Whatever the child's appearance, character, abilities, or circumstances may become, the instinct to nurture, protect, and care can remain deeply rooted in a mother's relationship with her child. Motherhood, in this sense, represents a form of love that does not begin with achievement and does not depend upon worthiness.

Yet Caring for mother turns this familiar direction of love around.

If a mother spends years protecting her child, what happens when the child becomes capable of protecting the mother?

The painting emerges from the belief that caring for one's mother should not be understood merely as an obligation imposed by tradition. It can instead become a conscious expression of gratitude, affection, respect, and human dignity. To protect one's mother without being asked is presented not as a burden, but as a form of inner nobility—the recognition that the person who once provided protection may eventually need to be protected in return.

Visually, the work communicates this idea through a deliberately expressive language. The simplified human figure, gentle facial expression, flowing forms, contrasting colors, and surrounding visual gestures create an atmosphere that can be approached emotionally rather than through a literal narrative. The painting does not attempt to document a particular mother and child, but leaves enough openness for viewers to enter the work through their own memories and relationships.

The central figure may be understood as a mother, a memory of motherhood, a symbolic presence, or simply a human figure encountered through the viewer's own imagination. The surrounding forms may similarly invite different readings. They do not require a single symbolic translation.

This openness is essential to the work.

For one viewer, the painting may evoke gratitude toward a mother who sacrificed much. For another, it may recall childhood, family responsibility, aging parents, separation, or the quiet realization that the roles within a family eventually change. Someone else may encounter it simply as a reflection on love and human connection.

The painting does not insist that one interpretation is more correct than another.

At a deeper level, Caring for mother considers reciprocity—not as a transaction, but as a natural continuation of love. The care received in childhood may eventually return in another form: presence, attention, companionship, protection, respect, or simply the willingness to remain beside someone who once stood beside us.

The work also leaves open a larger question about what we inherit from the people who raise us. Perhaps the greatest inheritance is not material at all, but the capacity to continue an ethic of care. What a mother gives to her child may eventually extend beyond the family itself, becoming part of how that child treats other people and navigates the world.

In this sense, the title Caring for mother is not necessarily a conclusion. It is an invitation to reconsider the direction of love.

Who protects the person who once protected us?

And perhaps, beyond that question:

When love has been given to us freely, how do we choose to return it?

The answer remains outside the painting—within the memories, experiences, and personal relationships of each viewer who encounters it.
